Our first touristy destination (after Vegas) was the Grand Canyon.
And grand it was.
As well as cold. Maybe 5 degrees. If that. Celsius of course. I may have been in the U.S. for months now and say bathroom instead of toilet (it actually sounds nicer if you think about it, although they generally have their toilet in the bathroom whereas we generally don't, so it actually makes sense for them to say it but not us) but I still talk in Celsius.
Unless of course I'm talking to an American and then there's no point.
So we drove to the Grand Canyon National Park and visited the South rim. Mostly because that was the closest to us. Although some think that this is the best side. So yay for us.
We weren't near the skywalk - it's at the West rim way which is hours to the west - so we couldn't go on that. Although who am I kidding? Neither one of us wanted to go on it anyway. Why pay $30 to walk out on it and scare ourselves s!*tless?
There's a drive around the rim which ends at a place called Hermits Rest and there are observation points along the way with spectacular views. Luckily for us there were also some buildings that you could go into and enjoy the view from. That were heated. We were also able to get some good photos from the car!Despite the cold (at least there were less people due to the weather) it was an amazing place to visit that you really need to see to appreciate. I know I've said that before but it's just one of those places that photos don't do it justice.
