Today we are in Santa Fe, New Mexico! For those of you that don't know, it's in the U.S. not Mexico, despite the name. But it is down south and close to Mexico - it even borders it in part. The architecture certainly has a Mexican feel (at least I think it does but not having ever been to Mexico then I can't be sure, I mean I could be totally wrong) with lots of flat rooves and rendered earth toned walls that look like mud brick. Driving through New Mexico on the interstate things look kind of unappealing. Big flat areas surrounded by big mountains, not very green and sort of desolate looking. But get into a town and it has a completely different feel.
First of all today we visited a craft shop and met three ladies who had all been to Australia. In my travels I have met lots of people who, once they find out where I am from, tell me that Australia is one place they would love to visit. Rarely do I meet many who actually have, let alone three in the one place! And all women. Older women. I was impressed. One of them recommended we visit Museum Hill. It had started snowing by then but she said there was a cafe up there so it sounded like a good idea.
One problem though.
It's a Monday. And we all know what that means.
Things like that are closed on a Monday. But we still had a look around (a quick one because it was freezing) and took some photos. But the nice thing was that in going there we had driven through a really interesting residential part of town. It might have been a bit boring to most people but to Belle and I it was really interesting.
After that we walked around the Canyon Road area which is full of art galleries with some amazing sculptures and all sorts of art. We didn't go inside any of them - we didn't need to as there were incredible pieces everywhere outside.
I need to also add that for the last three days I have run on the treadmill.
Impressed? I should hope so!
