CHINA - XIAN

Well this is the last of the babies in the downstairs apartment (until today, my last day but I will explain in a later post). There are more babies upstairs but I don't really know them as my time was spent downstairs (apart from going up to eat lunch). Anyway this little girl is Noa - we normally only know that as a boys name (& it's usually spelt Noah) but she was named by Elise the volunteer from Holland so maybe that's normal there. The reason I left Noa until last should hopefully be obvious from the photos - she has changed soooooo much. When I first got there she looked like an alien. I know that sounds awful but seriously, look at the child! She looks like something out of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." When I got to Starfish (eventually) she had only been there a week & Elise was spoiling her rotten (as she should). When Elise left Lila took over & spoiled here even more. Noa would even get cranky if Lila paid attention to her other favorite Stewart. She spent a lot of time being fed by Lila, asleep in Lila's arms, in Lila's room etc. etc. etc.
But look at her now! It's hard to believe that these photos are of the same baby. It's a huge change, all in just under 4 weeks. We don't actually think that Noa has any medical condition, just that she was probably a prem baby & malnourished.
