Saturday mornings we have staff softball - it’s optional but I put my name down as I want to participate in as many camp activities as I can.
It’s hard to hit a ball with a round bat if you’re not used to it.
However I managed to hit it both times I was up to bat.
Yay me!
Today was also Frank Buck Day where half a dozen of the staff dress up in crazy costumes (and in the process pretty much trash the costume area in drama looking for things to wear) as the “Buck Family”. They also have ribbons tied to them and the kids chase them around to try and get the ribbons or parts of their costumes from them to get points. The Buck family have water bottles to squirt campers as they try to catch them. There are also a bunch of fun and silly events that the campers can do to get extra points such as “Dizzy Dingoes” - maybe read the article in the Chirrup that I will put in my next post (that will save me a bit of explaining). Each cabin then adds up their points and there is an auction by the CIT’s of baskets full of soft drink, chips etc. The only catch is that the CIT’s may have eaten the chips, filled the bag with sawdust and sealed it back up. That kind of dodgy thing - but that’s half the fun of it (although some of the small kids in my cabin didn’t see the humour in it and got a bit upset).
I have put in a great shot each of Amy and Mike who are dressed up as part of the Buck Family and one of Amelia and I at the activity we were running. Lucking for me I had an injury that stopped me from running around being chased by kids. Maybe not so lucky for Amy who had to take my spot although it looked to me like she had a great time.
