VERMONT - PITTSFORD

It’s the 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A big day for the Americans, it started off as normal with staff softball. Today I got a home run (or whatever it’s called) which was exciting. But still my team lost.
Again.
But we had fun and that’s all that matters.
Or something like that.
After lunch we had an all camp activity (with the girls camp as well) called “Catch the Counsellor”. Basically the staff all hide in the pasture and the kids have to find them. It sounds really easy but there are actually some counsellors that have never been found in all the years they have been here and played the game. Each time a camper finds someone they get an icy pole - you know, the ones in the tube. Luckily I tin assed my way into being one of the staff that got to hand out the rewards. No hiding in the trees amongst the ticks for me!
We also had a pie eating contest which - as you can see from the photo - the boys really love it. Needless to say I declined to enter (actually I was in my cabin putting on some warm clothes at the time so missed out anyway. Luckily).
As it was the 4th of July we had a barbeque (or a Farneyque as they call it because Farney cooks it) of delicious, tasty ribs, then some all camp games and onto the bonfire and fireworks.
We have had so much rain that it was hard to keep the bonfire burning but eventually after some great work by some of the guys, it was a roaring success.
My apologies for that pathetic attempt at humour.
I am going to blame lack of sleep.

The other three photos are from the bonfire.
